The night-blooming Argentine Giant cactus flower is a spectacular sight from any angle. When three flowers bloomed side by side it was an even more amazing view seen from the rear.

I've been involved in various art pursuits all my life, especially oil painting, but when I discovered how much more quickly I could convey an emotion with photography, I made a serious switch and have found the change engrossing. I like to think that I see the natural world more acutely when I take the trouble to photograph it. In particular, I enjoy looking at what is often taken for granted and overlooked yet seen all around us, the interior beauty of flowers and the knowledge of their ephemeral existence. I hope my photographs arouse in the viewer the same sense of beauty and wonder that I see. And part of that wonder is its very fleeting nature.
