Shiny wet leaves adorned with glistening raindrops created a composition of sparkling light and color. This photograph was taken during a visit to Sedona, Arizona as a brief shower passed through the area.

I've been involved in various art pursuits all my life, especially oil painting, but when I discovered how much more quickly I could convey an emotion with photography, I made a serious switch and have found the change engrossing. I like to think that I see the natural world more acutely when I take the trouble to photograph it. In particular, I enjoy looking at what is often taken for granted and overlooked yet seen all around us, the interior beauty of flowers and the knowledge of their ephemeral existence. I hope my photographs arouse in the viewer the same sense of beauty and wonder that I see. And part of that wonder is its very fleeting nature.
